2008-03-31 22:52:00 | The Internet connection cuts off after being on standby or Hibernate. When I check the connection details it tells me that there is still a valid lease. Another computer on the the same router stays on line. I have disabled the power saving on the Network connection. Defeats the object of hibernation/standby if I have to reboot!! Tried resetting the router. Pings OK. System XP pro sp2, Router Dick-Smith 4 port. Mboard Asus M2N-MX SE. Is there a way to get back on line without Rebooting? The "repair" tab on the task bar does not work & reports that "can not purge DNS cache" ?

2008-03-31 23:10:00 | Try this - right click My Computer / properties / Hardware tab/ Device manager / Expand out the network adapter / Right click the adapter/properties/ Power management tab/ UNTICK the box that says " allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power" Example (www.imagef1.net.nz) I dont have mine set as I dont use standby & hibernate | wainuitech (129) | |

2008-03-31 23:47:00 | Does this happen every time without fail, or is it more spasmodic? (Love that word!) :p | wratterus (105) | |
2008-04-01 00:25:00 | Hi mzee, I had the same problem & was able to fix it with Speedy's help. start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager > expand universal serial bus controllers > click on USB Root Hub > untick box "allow computer to turn off this device" Don't know why it fixed the problem as modem is connected with ethernet, but it did. Hope it works for you.

2008-04-04 02:21:00 | I have fixed it, doesn't make sense but it worked. In the connection properties I deselected "Obtain DNS Automatically" and selected "Use following DNS" 202.27.184.3 & 202.27.184.5 It now stays on line all the time. I don't know why it works because the router is on Auto & shows random DNS.;)
