654622	2008-03-31 14:58:00	I used Acronis true image v11 to clone a hard drive, during the process the program failed at 99%, it offer to "abort" Ignore" or Ignore all" I tried to do all 3, seems the program was hung. Now I cannot access the hard drives at all. Any help getting back into the main hard drive, the "original" would be of great help. I would like to get it back to operating state....Thanks..and what a GREAT site...Comic	unknowncomic (13564)
654623	2008-03-31 18:25:00	It sounds to me like the HD you are cloning too is bad. Try another Hard drive. I hope you are using about the same size hard drives. darroll	darroll (12090)
654624	2008-03-31 19:15:00	Welcome to press F1 unknowncomic - What exactly do you mean by Now I cannot access the hard drives at all - What happens when you start the PC ?? try this, start the PC, keep pressing F8 on startup, when the black screen with white writing appears, using the arrow keys, select safe mode, see if it will start up in that, if it does, reboot normally- if it wont start in safe mode, repeat and this time select last Known good configuration. --- See what happens.	wainuitech (129)
654625	2008-03-31 23:48:00	If there is a difference in size of the drives it would be better to make Images of your partitions & restore them to the new drive. I usually make Images as a backup, then clone the drive. This way if it messes up I can restore it. So far Acronis hasn't given me problems in this regard.	mzee (3324)

654627	2008-04-01 06:13:00	Are you instating from an external hard drive. If so, are the USB ports working okay. If trying those at the front of the PC, then maybe worth trying the USB ports at the rear of the PC. Misty :)	Misty (368)

Hi wainuitech, and thanks for the great welcome, when I boot the original HD it gave me missing NTLDR, I would guess that acronis had "moved" the MBR, as I have heard other state that it does this, problem is, where did it move to ? hehe...Im not real savvy on PC's, but not totally a newb. I suppose with proper instructions I could make a MBR repair disk and try to repair the MBR. Just wanted to throw my problem out in the wind of the information super highway before I strike out on my own with limited knowledge..Thanks...also I have not tried the F8 yet..but will and report back..its a old school dell tower and a 80gig seagate HD. To those that made reference to the drives sizes, one is a 80 gig, and the drive I used for the clone was 40 gig, but only 15% of the drive I wanted to clone was used at that point. I have tried some data recovery programs, but as stated in my original post, acronis "Locked" the hard drive, I was told this was a security measure, or read that on the acronis site, which could offer no help. I have spent a small fortune on a couple data recovery proggy's and cant afford to shell out anymore, but the drive contains some very important info and company programs on it... 654629	2008-04-01 19:22:00	Okay to fixt NTLDR is missing try this - go to This web site ( . com/notes/ntldrismissing . htm" target="_blank">tinyempire . com)Download and follow the instructions on the page to make a bootable CD or floppy, this hopefully will boot you into windows . Two things you can try - Once Windows has loaded, run system Restore back to before you copied the drive . That may fix it . If not try this - its copied from another location istead of being linked . Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer . When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key . Once in the Windows XP setup menu, press the “R” key to repair Windows . Log into your Windows installation by pressing the “1″ key and pressing enter . You will then be prompted for your administrator password; enter that password, or just press enter if there is no password . Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk . In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter “E . ” NOTE:This letter may be different on your computer . copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\ copy e:\i386\ntdetect . com c:\ Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot . If none of this works, it hopefully will boot from the CD or floppy and at least allow you to rescue the data without needing live CD's before trying anything more drastic .	wainuitech (129)

Im glad I was led to this site, I have seen other post of many things I have wanted to ask and now I can just follow what is already posted here. Misty :) Sorry for the very late reply, yes I was doing this via USB ( front side ) and the ports are working fine, thanks for the idea of trying the rear ones, the front works great, but hey, maybe the back will throw a new twist into the mystery...Thanks for the post..Comic	unknowncomic (13564)
