www . mcs . geek . nz
Looks terrible on Opera . Haven't got Firefox installed so can't check on that .

Horizontal scrollbar even on my 1280x1024 monitor - a big no-no .

Strange how "Links" are at the top of the page enticing the reader away before they have a chance to even look at the rest of the page .

I didn't check the code . . . will take the others' word for it .

356343 2005-05-22 01:55:00 In opera the "about mcs" and "links" go to the right of the heading table. I can't really tell you how to fix this because the code is such a mess and I can't be bothered trying to sort out whats happening. ad_267 (6193)
356344 2005-05-22 03:08:00 Hmm, well, I knew it wasn't brilliant. First webpage I ever did. I don't have any webpage software, my bother sold his older version of Dreamweaver. Pity.
As for code, ahem, couldn't write HTML to save myself.
It looks ok via Mozilla and a friend said it didn't have any obvious glitches in IE.
Sorry Opera.
Its not in the budget yet but eventually I'll get someone pro to do it properly.
And yes I did use Word. :blush:

356345 2005-05-22 09:58:00 I find that if I have a div 80% wide, then a table inside that at 100% wide, the table goes to 100% of the page, not the div. Very annoying. mejobloggs (264)
356346 2005-05-22 20:12:00 Personally I find CSS sometimes seems to make strange errors when being used in tables. Especially when you use Opera, which is meant to be a pure reader of CSS. netchicken (4843)
356347 2005-05-22 20:19:00 You don't need a professional to do it. Learn to make a page yourself its an easy one. In about 2 hours you would have learned the skills needed. Then you can make as many pages as you like, for free. Take a wet saturday, download a free simple program, and make a better page.

Nah, HTML is too much like programming which I loathed. Thats why I became a tech - I could find dreamweaver I suppose...but nah, as I said, I'll get a pro to do it sometime, I'd want to change the way it works anyway...or I should say have them change it...
I just thought I'd get a proper opinion as you ask friends and they all say "its lovely".

PCTec,
Please make our "Expert fiddler" happy by reducing the width of your tables containing the desciptions of your products and services . As far as i can see thats whats keeping the page wider than peoples screens . However its hard to tell because there is so much bollocky dribble in the code!

MS word is the worst webmaking software i have ever seen . There's possably 5 times the code thats needed behind that very simple page . Even the Open Office suites very token web designing software is far ahead of MSword!

And please please remove the flashing email graphic . It makes it look like a tacky geocities template site from last century! :yuck:

356350 2005-05-22 23:28:00 Hmmm....I don't get a horizontel scrollbar...... Metla (12)
356351 2005-05-23 00:25:00 Hmmm....I don't get a horizontel scrollbar......Really? Well here's what i see:
millerton.co.nz
OS = Mepis, basic installation
browser = firefox,
screen = 1024x768

And i just realised what the problem is. This page was designed to be 1024 pixels wide exactly. Because a vertical scrollbar cuts in and reduces the effective width, a horizontal scrollbar joins the party! :D
