| 654181 | 2008-03-30 23:48:00 | Put in a spare drive and do a dual boot system to check its all good 1st....good idea! +1 on that idea. There is nothing stopping you running a dual boot system. By installing it to a second hard drive not only does it give you a seperate OS for those manufacturers who are not up to speed yet but also gives you a backup in case one drive fails. |

Very good idea indeed but I have not had success with dual boot. Had XP & Vista on different HDD before and I could not revert back to XP when I wanted to. |

| 654183 | 2008-03-31 00:07:00 | 2 versions of the same OS are different story. They both run the same boot table so eliminate most of the problem you would have had with vista and XP. There are several guides on how to do it online, google is your friend. Make sure you have a good back up of everything first also. I always backup the lot before playing around with the OS. I learnt that one the hard way a few times. |

If running dual boot on separate HDD, the 8GB of RAM in the computer will not show on 32bit OS even though its installed. Question then is that will it harm the RAM. Just looked into my RAM marketing hype and it says the RAM should only be used on 64Bit OS and warranty will be void eitherwise. Its on my 32bit OS now and there's no problem. |
