654383 2008-03-31 06:47:00 Okay, I'll try 1 more time....from xtra web site

Starting from the 18th March, customers who use an email address with Xtra mail settings other than @xtra.co.nz, eg. user@business.co.nz, will need to add this email address to their Yahoo!Xtra mail account using the add account tool located in Yahoo!Xtra webmail in order to continue to send emails.

To do this you will need to log into Yahoo!Xtra webmail and add the email that is not @xtra.co.nz, and verify that they have authorised use of this email address with your email account.

So after account added and confirmation e-mail, all good.
Try following the instructions to the letter

They say they have done all that, and it works sometimes, and othertimes it times out.

654385 2008-03-31 12:02:00 Here are the settings I use to send / received e-mails with my domain name:

POP (incoming): pop3.mydomainname.co.nz (in your case it will be (mail.mydomainname.co.nz))

SMTP (outgoing): smtp.xtra.co.nz

And I don’t have “My Outgoing Server requires authentication” ticked nor do I have “This server requires an encrypted connection” ticked (This wording is taken from Microsoft Outlook 2003) and I have not changed the port numbers either.

Try un-ticking “My Outgoing Server requires authentication” & “This server requires an encrypted connection” and using smtp.xtra.co.nz & using the default port numbers & see how you get on.
x 2 what Stu said.

654386 2008-04-01 20:58:00 ???, are you saying that for any email domain you use through xtra smtp servers, you added the account under webmail?...If so, did you get the confirmation code to enter?. The settings for outgoing mail on the client remain the same.

That's right, I have gone through this process for each and every OWN domain name email that we have (that's at least 10 or so) and yes, got the confirmation code entered that and had this confirmed that all was good etc...
I just still can't seem to get my settings right, but will try one of the other setting suggestions below.
Funny thing is, I have the same set up at home and am having no trouble there at all (have done the same process of verifying etc...) and my home settings dont work here at work. :-)
Any other suggestions welcome.

654387 2008-04-01 21:16:00 Hi wtgchic :)

I also have a domain name Not hosted with Xtra & I am able to send & received e-mails fine.

Here are the settings I use to send / received e-mails with my domain name:

Let me know how that goes??

What E-mail client are you using? & are you in Auckland?

Also who’s your domain name web host / ISP??

Hi, thanks for your help, have changed them all to smtp & default ports and same thing still it lets some of the mail in and out and some not. I am still having trouble with two of the addresses that are not anything oddly different from any others.

I have used a miryid of settings over the past months including these ones and none of them so far had ever been problem free.

I even went back into bubble to double check they were in the verified mail accounts - to which they definately are with the others.
This is the message I get from them sporadically:
" User@OWNDOMAIN - Sending and Recieving' reported error (0x800ccc0F) The connection to the server was interrupted. IF this problem continues, contact your server administratior or Internet service provider (ISP).

(I get this for two particular domain emails, 1 has been in use for years, and 1 is brand new - both verified in Bubble, all the other emails have EXACTLY the same settings)

Using a few diff Email Clients in office, most Microsoft Outlook 2002 - in Wellington.
We use Kiwiwebhost for our Domain Hosting.

Hmmmmm....any other knowledge most appreciated.
Many thanks :-)

Hi

We used to use those settings quite along time ago....but this is where i'm a little technically challenged.

We recieved notice 'I think' from Xtra maybe about 1-2 years ago telling us if we wanted to keep sending emails we needed to change smpt: to smtp.xtra.co.nz (rather than our Domain name one, as we don't pay for EMAIL hosting through our ISP, only Domain name Hosting)
(I think this was roughly about the same time way back when they changed stuff with Port 25)....but I don't have much understanding of why's etc... I just made the changes and all used to be fine.

I've just changed those ones I'm having particular trouble with the mail.OURDOMAIN.co.nz one and is no different, getting same error message.

BUT - like always it still SOMETIMES allows some emails out - sporadically and lets them in - there is no consistancy, and still error messages.

Any other stuff helpful, and if someone can explain if using smtp.xtra.co.nz or using mail.[ourdomain].co.nz one for Outgoing is right and should it still work using xtra.
Many thanks :-)

654390 2008-04-02 00:03:00 Just an idea…

Have you tried un-verifying the domain name that your having problems with to see if that helps??

(I know it’s a long shoot, but I don’t see the reason why you would need to do this when I can send mail with my domain name fine)

As I don’t have any of my domain names verified in Bubble or have disabled port 25.

Are you sure it isn't anything to do with your webhosts settings . Could ther servers be blacklisted by yahoo, which is blocking you sendng via you domain? I know that they have been having problems with their servers quite regually recently, which you can see if you go to their announcements page .

654392 2008-04-02 00:24:00 Hi

We used to use those settings quite along time ago . . . . but this is where i'm a little technically challenged .

We recieved notice 'I think' from Xtra maybe about 1-2 years ago telling us if we wanted to keep sending emails we needed to change smpt: to smtp . xtra . co . nz (rather than our Domain name one, as we don't pay for EMAIL hosting through our ISP, only Domain name Hosting)
(I think this was roughly about the same time way back when they changed stuff with Port 25) . . . . but I don't have much understanding of why's etc . . . I just made the changes and all used to be fine .

A lot of people have got confused over this, & I have found that people did not really need to do any thing as I have been able to send mail with any other smtp server just fine (not counting yahoo’s servers)

I've just changed those ones I'm having particular trouble with the mail . OURDOMAIN . co . nz one and is no different, getting same error message .

BUT - like always it still SOMETIMES allows some emails out - sporadically and lets them in - there is no consistancy, and still error messages .

** Sigh ** , I just wish Xtra (&/or Yahoo would be more helpful especially with e-mail issues… .

Any other stuff helpful, and if someone can explain if using smtp . xtra . co . nz or using mail . OURDOMAIN . co . nz one for Outgoing is right and should it still work using xtra .

I won’t have thought using smtp . xtra . co . nz or using mail . OURDOMAIN . co . nz would matter as both should work fine .
