357092 2005-05-21 03:16:00 Break out the PS2, the women can make goodies, supply provisions etc whilst the men play Gran Turismo 4.

Sorry, as stated in my post: not PC-TV graphics - which obviously includes gaming.

357093 2005-05-21 03:23:00 Games. Well have to say we always used to do the computer games thing. Its fun!
But as Beetle says, talking? Or there's nothing to talk about?

OK, what about those murder mystery sort of games - dunno anything about them really but this sort of thing:

357094 2005-05-21 04:43:00 How about bringing a few 6 packs of beer.

Everyone is asked to spell words..

Get it right, take a swig.
Get it wrong, take a swig.

Start with easy words...
work your way onto harder words like the ones BillyT has been putting up for WFTWE posts. :2cents:

357097 2005-05-22 01:20:00 What happened last night.

We had a great time! Here's the guff...

First, keep in mind that we were 3 couples, not teenies but ranging from 30's to 50s, and way past getting blotto drunk to have fun.
Yeee, PF1ers like their booze!

Anyway, I read out some of this post from you helpful lot, and this got quite a few laughs, and groans.

Next, we played a simple but really great game. It goes by different names, such as Truth and Lies / Tell the Truth. Each person takes a turn by telling three things that has happened in their lives: two true, and one false. Then the rest of the people ask questions that have a yes/no answer. After a few rounds, the truth comes out. You learn a lot about people - even close friends. Of course it is fun to come up with a big lie that people get sucked into. If it sounds boring, well, try it and you may be surprised. :D

Then one couple pulled out Pictionary. Ugghh - I never played it but thought this is going to be a stupid kids game. What a surprise - we all loved it!!! Highly recommend this game - you have to quickly draw whatever word is presented to you. None of us are artists but often the correct answer was given after only 2 or 3 seconds of sketching. It was us three guys vs the girls; we won, but only just, and only because we cracked down on the women who kept trying to cheat!

Finally, our German-Swiss friends took out the " Set ! " game (http://www.setgame.com/)
Egad, this must have been designed by a psychologist. I cannot say that I enjoyed this game, but others did I suppose, and it was very clever / interesting / intriguing. It is about using your spatial perception, or something like that. Our German friend is a teacher, and that sorta sums up the type of game it is, but if you have kids and want to develop their thinking then I'd recommend it.

Except for music, this was a no-tech get together: no flicks, no screens.
Along with junk food, a bit of wine and a delectable apple blackberry pie, it was a great time. Now to ring my son and see how bad his hangover is from the usual Saturday night partying. :horrified

357099 2005-05-22 05:00:00 Hi all
I unwittingly went to the "set" site and nearly an hour later finally came away. What a mind bender and yet another way to loose track of time.

Cheers
