356401 2005-05-19 10:46:00 Actually I was quite surprised when I first heard that the Pongolians were going to purchase the same graphics as TV3 - whilst we watch TV3 News rather than be subjected to the manipulative delivery of the so-called "Mother of the Nation" (and get constantly reminded about her obscene salary), I think the TV1 weather is far better . So are the weather presenters . TV3 Toni's high uplift warm front (courtesy of Wonderbra?) sometimes obscures the weather information I am interested in! :stare:

Pongolians??

Mother Judy - since I heard about her $800k, she doesn't seem as good to me anymore .

Toni - wins the best fashion on TV, imho, but yep, we guys can miss the weather that she is presenting! :D

To be honest, I am a channel changer, much to my wife's annoyance, so (if I can get away with it) I will watch both TV1 and TV3 news, after Prime 5 . 30 News that I tape and FFWD-view . :nerd:

In that case you can tell us how good the budget was,I am sure you were impressed .

356403 2005-05-19 11:02:00 Could be because One news is relayed to those regions.
Just goes to show how little I've watched TV1 news and weather for the past few years...

Eeeeee! When that came on, I channel flicked, then went into BBC's Asia Today on tape! :D

The view has England in the foreground with Scotland tapering away towards the North Pole. I'm in full agreement with the Scots.

Thanks Win, I am too (in agreement with the Jimmies, that is). Interesting url. Watch the video linked on that page where an Aunty BBC presenter "showcases" the new system, and catch the irony - she is Scottish, with a delightful accent!

356407 2005-05-20 07:08:00 As Flanders and Swan so succinctly put it,I think they have it right.

The Scotsman is mean as we're all well aware
He's boney and blotchy and covered with hair
He eats salty porridge, he works all the day
And hasn't got bishops to show him the way.

I wonder if Galloway will rip into the BBC over this matter, like he did with the Yanks? :)

George Galloway had vowed to give US senators "both barrels" and after sitting - coiled - through an hour-and-half of testimony against him, he unloaded all his ammunition. Read more here (news.bbc.co.uk)

I thought Galloway was great, about time the Republicans were told what is what without any pussyfooting around

The BBC can alter and customise the weather graphics in many ways as I read it . The video clip showed a bit of fly-over Ireland, surely they do a fly over Scotland when talking about the weather there?
If not, the Scots have a point, if yes, then el tougho, after all if they choose to live up near the North Pole what else can they expect? ;)

I'm also sure that the BBC could split the graphics up to show the south upto a line Birmingham to the Wash, or preferably the Scottish border, and then Scotland separately , as TV3 does with the north and south islands .

Edit: Let's have a tune, Jack Hylton

Singing in the Rain ( . petefaint . co . uk/jackhylton/singinintherain . ram" target="_blank">www . petefaint . co . uk), 1929 .

Edit again: That's an idea for a Hot Tunes Of The Month, weather related tunes from the 1920s/30s
