| 654373 | 2008-03-30 21:50:00 | Hi I'm hoping you guys can help me out and it would be much appreciated. I am normally very patient with my computer and with all of Xtra's changes and quirks, but I am now tearing my hair out. We have xtra addresses, and we also have our own Domain name addresses hosted through a different ISP. I have verified ALL of our Own Domain name addresses (about 10) through Yahoo's bubble interface as told to through Xtra site.... For the last month it seems to have been sporadic, letting emails in and out only in certain intervals throughout the day, and coming up with errors other times, but still always eventually letting them in and out. But once and for all i want to get out settings right, as for the last year, different domain name emails seemed to have worked with some settings, some compt and other domain emails have worked with diff ones and no consistency... This is what I have: For the Xtra Addresses. Inc: pop3.xtra.co.nz Out: send.xtra.co.nz (and tried smtp.co.nz) My Server requires authentication (using Inc settings) Inc: 995 (ticked) Out: 465 (not ticked) Also tried: Inc: 110 (not) Out: 587 (not) Inc: 110 (not) Out: 25 (not) This is what I;ve tried for our Domain Name Settings (not hosted through Xtra): Inc: mail.OURDOMAINNAME.co.nz Out: send.xtra.co.nz (and tried smtp.co.nz) My Server requires authentication (using Inc settings) Inc: 995 (ticked) Out: 465 (not ticked) Also tried: Inc: 110 (not) Out: 587 (not) Inc: 110 (not) Out: 25 (not) WHAT AM I MISSING, this is so time consuming and incribly frustrating, as I have nothing working now. Any advice would be soooo much appreciated. Many thanks |

| 654376 | 2008-03-31 01:40:00 | Hi, Thanks for that link...but that's what I've already done. I had already gone through and verified each and every Own Domain name email in Bubble (yes it took a while), but still I don't know EXACTLY what settings to have for: Xtra Own Domain Name email not hosted through XTRA As none of those above settings work 100% of the time for all the emails and all the computers. Any other suggestions? I appreciate any help anyone can give. |

| 654377 | 2008-03-31 01:51:00 | ???, are you saying that for any email domain you use through xtra smtp servers, you added the account under webmail?...If so, did you get the confirmation code to enter?. The settings for outgoing mail on the client remain the same. | SolMiester (139) | ||

The fact that it doesn't work. Xtra don't even own the mail system now, Yahoo does. Every week there's an article in the paper about exactly this - and how they are going to lose their business customers. So..........what are you waiting for? Dump them and get a decent ISP. |

| 654381 | 2008-03-31 04:21:00 | Hi wtgchic :) I also have a domain name Not hosted with Xtra & I am able to send & received e-mails fine. Here are the settings I use to send / received e-mails with my domain name: POP (incoming): pop3.mydomainname.co.nz (in your case it will be (mail.mydomainname.co.nz)) SMTP (outgoing): smtp.xtra.co.nz And I don’t have “My Outgoing Server requires authentication” ticked nor do I have “This server requires an encrypted connection” ticked (This wording is taken from Microsoft Outlook 2003) and I have not changed the port numbers either. Try un-ticking “My Outgoing Server requires authentication” & “This server requires an encrypted connection” and using smtp.xtra.co.nz & using the default port numbers & see how you get on. Let me know how that goes?? What E-mail client are you using? & are you in Auckland? Also who’s your domain name web host / ISP?? |

Many thanks I posted about this earlier in the month at pressf1.pcworld.co.nz I would either find another ISP, or perhaps find a domain/webhost that allows you to send email through the hosts SMTP server if Xtra don't help you fix it. |
