654147 2008-03-30 07:01:00 What version of Windows are you using and where have you lost it from ??

BE VERY CAREFUL HERE - only alter whats adviced, if you delete the wrong thing it may make your system unbootable:

Also check your reg to make sure its being told to "hide" For XP Click start /Run, type in regedit press enter -- navigate to

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer

look if there is a entry there called "NoControlPanel" , if there is double click it and change the value from 0 to 1 close the reg editor and your control panel should have returned.

NOTE: if the entry is not there simply close the reg editor and advice.

Have you by any chance done a spyware scan lately ??

654149 2008-03-30 07:45:00 This could be the work of spyware - after checking above, if its still not in the start menu, where I assume you are referring to since you didn't actually say, go to here (www.kellys-korner-xp.com) scroll down to number 224, download the reg fix and double click it, agree to any prompts. wainuitech (129)
654150 2008-03-30 08:21:00 Try Start>Run, type "control.exe" and press Enter. Do you get a "Restrictions" dialog box?

If not, Right-click Start menu>Properties>Customize (select the expanded start menu if it isn't already)>Advanced. Under Control Panel click Display as a Link.

If it does, its likely your PCs got some spyware blocking access to the control panel. Post a HiJackThis logfile from Speedy's sig.
