654095 2008-03-29 22:03:00 Hi

Playing 'round on the Toshi the other day, as yah do . I sorta found this by accident, might be useful .

Right Click on the Internet Explorer Icon and select Properties . In the Target Box add the web address of your favorite homepage .

For Example, "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore . exe" http://pressf1 . co . nz

You can do this a number of different ways but this method has a sneaky little advantage . Regardless of the homepage set in the Internet Options, this overrules it .

Here's some applications, I've thought of .

Set your homepage and other User's won't be able to change it, (unless they read Press F1 of course!!), hopefully this probably means virus won't/can't change it either .

Great little April Fool's Joke . Secretly, do this trick on your Mate's computer and he won't be able to get his homepage back . He will think it's a virus!! Please put him out of his misery afterwards!!

If you have more than one favorite homepage, you can now put a number of shortcuts, (Icons of your choice), on your desktop . This is similar to dragging and dropping the web address but with the above advantages .

Anyway, give it a go, if yah can think of any more uses I will like to know .

654097 2008-03-30 01:32:00 Weird, I can't see the "Target" field anywhere. If I right-click on the icon on my Desktop and choose properties, all it opens is the Internet Options that you can access from IE at any time under Tools.

Running IE8 Beta btw.

654098 2008-03-30 01:40:00 You can use
iexplore http://www.pressf1.pcworld.co.nz -k to run it in full-screen mode (kiosk mode - hence the k) - can't get to Windows unless you Alt+F4 out of it.

654099 2008-03-30 02:44:00 Sorry Guys

Should have made myself a little clearer .

1 . Do a search for iexplore . exe

2 . CREATE A SHORTCUT . Box will open asking to place shortcut on Desktop . Press YES .

3 . Right Click on this new shortcut . Select PROPERTIES .

4 . NOW append, (add to) existing line in the TARGET BOX, the web address of your favorite homepage .

5 . Change Icon and/or delete the original Internet Explorer Icon from your desktop .

Hope this makes things a little clearer .
