2008-04-03 05:53:00 | I recently purchased a new mother board , asus p5k-e .What size ram should i install.I,m using xp 32 bit home. i understand 3gb is the limit for 32 bit. I want to use DDR2 -800 ram. Should i fit 2 x 1gb sticks of dual channel, or 2x2 gb dual channel sticks.Or is it possible to fit 2 lots of 2 x 1 gb dual channel. thanks | mrplane (11854) | |
2008-04-03 06:17:00 | You can put 4 sticks of 1 GB in. As you said, you wont get 4 GB, but you'll get 3.25 - 3.5 GB of ram

2008-04-03 07:37:00 | i bought the ram overseas , ive been in thailand last 3 weeks, the ram is kingston kvr667d2n5/1g . the book supplied with mobo said ram not dual channel | mrplane (11854) | |
2008-04-03 08:07:00 | It looks like that part # is compatible, but youre right, it wont work in all 4 slots in dual channel You would have to get one of these, if you get DDR 800 Kingston : KHX6400D2LLK2/1GN Hynix : HYMP512U64CP8-S5 Crucial : BL12864AA804-16FD3 Apacer : AHU01GE800C5K1C Or PSC : AL7E8E63B-8E1K These are all 1 GB dimms

2008-04-03 08:28:00 | thanks for that, checked kingston,s website and found that out. Is there a big diffference between cl4 and cl5 | mrplane (11854) | |
2008-04-03 08:34:00 | It shows you in the manual what ram works (in all 4 slots). For 1066/800/667 ram If A, B, and C, have a dot under them, the ram will work in all 4 slots, and in dual channel I wouldnt have a clue what the diff is between CL4/5
