655745 2008-04-03 04:25:00 I installed a new SATA DVD burner (Asus DRW-2014L1T), now device manager doesn't recognise it yet reports it's working fine. It also doesn't show up in Windows Explorer.

It powers on fine and can open and eject with no problems. I've tried swapping the SATA data cable which didn't change anything.

BIOS recognises it and shows up as my primary boot device. The SATA drivers for my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2) were installed about a month ago. I also have a 250GB Western Digital SATA hard drive installed and working fine.

Any idea what's going on? Cheers.

655746 2008-04-03 04:41:00 are there any other optical drives installed? if so check that you have set the primary/slave jumper correctly
option 2 is check there are no driver clashes
option 3 install the latest driver
option 4 uninstall old driver and re install

655747 2008-04-03 05:41:00 Uhh I'm pretty sure there aren't any jumpers for SATA drivers (I don't see any on the HD or optical drive). It's the only optical drive installed at the moment.

What drivers should I be looking to reinstall? The drive itself didn't come with any drivers and had the 'Vista Ready' sticker on the box. The SATA drivers I'm sure are working fine.

655748 2008-04-03 20:40:00 Try deleting it from Device Manager & reboot your PC. Provided it is cabled & connected ok, Windows should reinstall it.

You could also try updating your SATA/motherboard drivers.
