| 655195 | 2008-04-02 04:08:00 | I have a desktop computer approx two & half years old, which has'nt been used for eighteen months,on testing it does'nt function at all!I have been told it could be the power supply/unit.would dampness cause the power supply to malfunction, and is there a way to test it? There is power getting to the computer. | braintree (8065) | ||

What you can try is opening the case, attach another PSU ( known working one) leave it hanging out the side and see if it boots up, you don't need to attach all the drives, only the main 20 or 24 pin power plug to the board, and the CPU 4 pin plug if its got / needs one. Plug in the mains power lead and press the power button, if it kicks the fans into life, and starts to boot then thats half the battle. If it still is dead, then there will be something else to look at Eg: The board maybe. |
