| 358952 | 2005-05-27 20:06:00 | Does anyone really care about a pommie rugby team touring here? It seems to me the poms have organised a tour to make money for themselves and to give them an excuse to holiday in NZ. If any of us want to see the games we have to go through some rigmarole to get a ticket and then pay a large fortune for it. I wonder if we realy care about the tour. The people I know don't seem interested. All the fuss about it seems to be created by journalists to fill their newspapers. And for their Barmy Army. More like a bunch of drunken poms. I see now they want to run their own bar in Ak. Why should they let us make money when they can keep it themselves. As a Kiwi I hope we win, but to be quite honest I couldn't care less. |

I'll still watch the games with anticipation but i can't help feeling it'll be an anti-climax (and a walkover for the all-blacks). Wait and see! At least these drunken poms are well-behaved and good natured. You won't find the hooligan element typical of the soccer fans. |

| 358957 | 2005-05-27 22:52:00 | Does anyone really care about a pommie rugby team touring here? As far as rugby is concerned, no, I'm not, but as far as it being good for the country then yes. Having 6,000 (is that figure correct?) Pommie tourists spending up large is good for our economy and everyone benefits from that one way or another. |

| 358959 | 2005-05-27 23:06:00 | One thing I would point out in favour of the Barmy Army is that the support is always fantastic and good natured - win or lose. I've been to Rugby matches in NZ and often you could hear a pin drop. Kiwis just don't seem to back their team. Rather, they prefer to slag their own team off at any given opportunity. Perhaps the NZ support could learn a thing or two about getting behind your team, willing them on and creating at atmosphere. Maybe it would help team performance too (not just rugby but in other sports too). :2cents: |
