358542 2005-05-26 00:25:00 Hi Folks. Anyone out there had this programme identify or locate a problem yet? It beavers away regularly and updates almost as regularly but.....
Just interested to see if it has been at all successful.

358543 2005-05-26 01:12:00 a quick search will find a few reports of it removeing a few legit programs.

MS antispyware is in BETA stage at the mo so its going to have some bugs.

358544 2005-05-26 01:25:00 It is fantastic, I have kicked Spybot and Adware.

My protection Nod32, Sygate Firewall, NAT. For scanning I use Nod32 weekly and MS Antispyware monthly.

I like smooth running programs that dont take too long to do their job.

358545 2005-05-26 01:37:00 I have had MS AntiSpyware pick up some items and remove them. Interesting also to find that after having removed the offending items, I did a reboot and re-ran MS AntiSpyware again ... which picked up nothing. Good I thought. Then I ran Ad-aware which picked up about 6 items which MS AntiSpyware failed to identify. So I then ran Spybot S&D, which also happened to pick up the same ones identified by Ad-aware.

So, it seems to me that it pays to have as many tools in the arsenal and cover all bases and not rely on just one.

358546 2005-05-26 07:13:00 I install it on people who seem to be the type that get whacked with spyware (i.e. I can clearly see spyware on their machine and abnormal internet traffic volumes).

I like the automatic updates functionality and real-time scanning.

For good measure I install Spywareblaster and Spybot Search and Destroy (i.e. they are free).

I also install Firefox and hope people will use that...

358547 2005-05-26 07:38:00 I give it the IE Icon and remove all visible access to IE.

Then I tell it not to try and make itself the default :) Goes a long way to helping!

358548 2005-05-26 11:00:00 It' not a bad programme, just don't rely on it alone as it doesn't check the range of app's that "3rd" party antispyware does. Good on the MS stuff though. Murray P (44)

358550 2005-05-26 18:50:00 Being an anti-beta activist, I've decided to download and use a beta product for the first time. Been using MS Antispyware for a few months already. However, I wouldn't advise people to abandon the usage of Ad-aware and Spybot S&D. MS Antispyware can't detect those cookies while the former can.

Cheers :)
