| 655893 | 2008-04-11 05:55:00 | That is the stupidest solution I've ever heard. How does the fact that there is lots of traffic traveling on THEIR network mean that you should change the IP range your router gives to the computers on your LAN. If anything they should change the IP address you get on your WAN side of your router, and you can't do anything about that except leave your modem turned off for 1/2 a day or so. --- Anyway, im with Orcon and I had the same problem with the modem just dropping the connection and not reconnecting until I reset the modem. Called Orcon and they get you to do a whole lot of steps, and most often it is the line filter that is the problem, have you tried changing that? In my case it wasn't the filters, since we have a dedicated line, it wasn't the modem since I went out a got a new one. So after that they got Telecom to go and check the exchange, they said everything was fine but increased the frequency or something. The problem continued for a week or so after that and now it seems to have sorted itself out. --- My laptop sometimes randomly won't connect to my wireless network, but this is wireless so different to you. I just disable the connection and try again, this often works. If not I restart the computer, which seems to fix it too. If it doesn't then the router/modem get restarted. Good luck, Gregor |
