655133 2008-05-12 04:23:00 Hi Guys, I had the same problem and I could never get the AVG Tech guys to return my emails so I called them. Here was the solution to my problem. Go to Network Connections in your Control Panel. Right click on you Internet Connection and select prosperities. Scroll down until you find Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Highlight and select prosperities and check your DNS server. Mine was selected as “use the following DNS server address” and it had a malicious DNS address in it. I was told to select “obtain DNS server address automatically" and save/close out. I then ran the Updater again and it worked first time. At this point I was told to run a full scan immediately. The malicious address was sending back to whoever details on what ever internet site I and my family went. It also stopped AVG from updating. I hope this helps you as well. If not, call them directly.
Good luck.
