655112	2008-04-01 22:59:00	When trying to install software using the 64bit windows installer i always get this error Windows installer cannot be accessed, this may be because you are in safe mode etc etc Obviously i am not in safe mode, i have been ignoring this for a while as the only thing needing it was SQL Server Express so i use mysql instead, but now my brand new download of NOD32 won't install because of it, as you can imagine i need this working, especially as i had to remove my previous antivirus before attempting my install and now i have no protection. I have googled this problem and it seems to be quite a big one with the only real way to fix it properly is to reinstall windows. I have tried numerous things unsuccessfully, reinitialising the msiserver in normal and safe modes changing registry values, using registry patches. Nothing works. Will SP1 help this issue? reinstall msiserver or help in any way? What about a repair install. really dont want to install all my programs again I am using Vista Home Premium 64bit. 655114	2008-04-20 23:42:00	@hazza87 - Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am running Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and I have gone through every conceivable step I can think of. Safe mode, unregister, register, install SP1, verifying/hacking registry entries, looking for the elusive msiexec file with no extension (wasn't there). Anyway, I have literally spent about 6 hours on this, and nothing works. It always gives me the same old "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed" error message.
