656017 2008-04-04 08:15:00 Started it up - screwed up looking ascii - definite ascii characters - all over the screen and there it stayed until PC was rebooted.

Next, it gets to Windows, where at a random length of time it displays an interesting pattern. The white lines - if you look really closely almost resembles text.

Its not a graphics problem.

Its not RAM.

That leaves CPU or board.

I ran a couple of CPU stress tests, it did the pattern thing almost straight away the first time, the seciond time it ran for ages, (well a while anyway) going through the various tests and didn't.

Its not overheating either.

Its 1 day old. Brand new parts.

CPU???

656020 2008-04-04 08:39:00 What CPU is it? I've seen my TV do something like that, but not a PC. qazwsxokmijn (102)

Asus M2N-MX SE board - used both tons of times before.

The ascii thing was interesting, last time I saw that - 7 years ago, my colleague had forgotten to connect a CPU fan and it was cooking itself....

No.
The ascii thing was almost like it was trying to display the Post text but instead the entire screen was black with white lettering, random letters, numbers, cahracters etc all over. With line spacing.
