656193 2008-04-07 15:10:00 Why does everyone keep praising Nero? I consider it to be the worst bit of rubbishy bloatware ever written.

I have been looking for a smaller simpler tool for ages and am still looking.

All I want to do is copy data files to rewritable DVD.

The Freeware, CDBurnerXP is now in version 4 and has a nice clean GUI.

I find it very easy to use and like the fact that it writes to EVERY type of disc.

You can get it here,_http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

656195 2008-04-08 04:18:00 Hello to you all!
Thanks a lot for all the replies.
I did not expect such an abundance of suggestions and I have started trying and one or the other will surely be suitable.
:thanks

656196 2008-04-08 04:52:00 I havn't read through the whole thread, I see CDBurnerXP has been suggested, +1 for that, great app.

I use CDBurnerXP, ImgBurn and DVDFlick.

Between those apps, there is nothing (that I've come across) that can't be done.

I still like Nero, but the latest two versions have been bloated like a dead pig lying in the sun. :(

656199 2008-04-20 05:16:00 Like others mentioned previously in this thread cdburnerxp is really good (I had troubles with Nero, which was temperamental in my situation). However just been looking at the helpfiles of cdburnerxp and notice that it says that there is a known conflict with Comodo firewall. I had been thinking of changing from Kerio to Comodo firewall but must not be too hasty after reading the caution !

I assume that you are referring to this,_
"Q: I get an error at startup, what can I do?
A: If you are using the Comodo Personal Firewall, try uninstalling it. And make sure that you are using the latest version of CDBurnerXP."

It is not a problem on my XP Home system. I am running the latest version of Comodo and CDBurnerXP.:)

Hi Vince
That is reassuring ! I was merely quoting what I read on the website re problems . However I will not be so concerned if I make the switch to Comodo and get that message .
Thanks
