You wouldn't expect instructions on how to operate the thing?
I would even if it came obliquely let alone parallel.

I'm with Cicero here, the manual is an important component of the whole package. It would be interesting to know what this product was exactly (hint hint) but I can imagine the Supplier crying off on a warranty claim because the user didn't RTFM and caused some problem or other. They can't have it both ways.

Of course if it was just a ballpoint pen or a pencil sharpener then the manual assumes somewhat lesser importance.
