Cheers :)

The question James, is this: Has anybody eaten after a Durian?

I think you might have lost the will to live by the time you got to the 'after' stage.

360890 2005-06-04 13:25:00 And you need not wait 2 days for the smell to improve.
It will pass through much faster than that, if you can even get it down.

Most overseas hotels ban the eating of Durian fruit in the rooms, as the smell is almost impossible to remove. That does not stop many arrogant people it seems, simply by the God awful smell that permeates the corridors when they eat it.

I prefer my crunchy frog chocolates any day.

What's the half-life for a Durian pong GF? Is it longer than that for an undiscovered corpse in midsummer during an aircon failure?

Yep, been in Thailand so tried it. It was good, but did not like having to taste it for hours afterwards!

A friend of mine is from Malaysia and he invited me over to taste a whole durian that he got in Welly, frozen. I knew it was thawed when I got out of my car parked on the street, cuz I could smell it! His wife had been through this before and made him cut it up on the back deck.

Seems each culture has its smelly food. Maori rotten corn. German stink cheeses.

Malaysians are very proud of Durian. We regard it as "The king of all fruit". However, it is a "very hot" fruit, which means it is strongly not advisable to consume alcoholic drinks immediately after eating a Durian. Rumor said that "you will explode" if you do so. We also have a fruit named as "The queen of all fruit", and that is mangosteen. It is exactly opposite from Durian, cool and refreshing. Traditionally, people used to "cool" their bodies down after eating durian by filling the empty fillings of the durian with water and drink it up. Not too sure, either, if that actually works. Frozen durian? Yuck....

Just that we do not know how to enjoy the food of other culture, dude. For example, I hate sour food like spaghetti or maybe cold and uncook food like salad, etc.

Cheers :)

360896 2005-06-05 12:27:00 You took the worlds most stench infested fruit and designated it King of all Fruit?

Competion must have been pretty scarce that year then, A 10c orange would wipe the floor with it.
