It is killing a large number of them, but since they are far away and not like us, then it's a case of "out of sight, out of mind" . See the UN Aids site (www . unaids . org) . Planet one Humans nil or is it Planet won when Humans Nil? That's right! If you don't think/worry/know about it, it wont affect you! Well not for long . . . Anyway, why stress about what we can't control? As individuals we can only stay as healthy as we can, but if we fall over, we fall over . . . End of story! |

Good pun . :D Anyway the point is that we can control it to a certain extent just as Greg says with simple hygene . And it suddenly starts to matter when you realise that your aging but healthy parents or your own children can die . Not you - them . |

| 360854 | 2005-06-07 12:23:00 | I'm really wierd - I get kind of compressed illnesses - that are just like normal ones people get over say 4 days, same symptoms etc - but compressed into a day and a half. Really wierd. I bet if I got the flu thing it would be like 2 days of intense hell instead of a week of average hell. I'm not worried. |

| 360855 | 2005-06-07 21:35:00 | Has anyone seen the excellent (and frightening) 28 Days Later ? Plot Summary for 28 Days Later: It has been twenty-eight days since Jim, a young bicycle courier, was knocked off his bike and injured in a car accident. When he wakes up from his coma, the world has changed. London is deserted, litter-strewn and grim, and it seems the entire world has disappeared. The truth, however, is even more horrifying - a devestating psychological virus has been unleashed on the world, turning the population into blood-crazed psychopaths driven only to kill and destroy the uninfected. A bitter struggle to get out of the city with fellow survivors to a military encampment at Manchester follows - but there, their troubles are just beginning... Yeeee! I think I'll watch a Walt Disney flick instead! ...but it appears to be a quality film, having won or been nominated for 19 awards (imdb.com). |

No dought there will be copous amounts of pointless bloody violence, but at least it promises a better plot than say "Robocop" (made ya cringe) Hmmm i wanna see it! |

| 360857 | 2005-06-08 12:54:00 | 28 Days Later is one of the better recent horror films. Knocks the socks off the Dawn of the Dead remake, wich was released at about the same time. Very "un-Hollywoody". | vinref (6194) | ||
| 360858 | 2005-06-22 12:57:00 | This (www.nzherald.co.nz) is NOT the epidemic, but sadly in these cases, it does point out what happens when people get a flu strain that their immune systems have never seen before. No doubt the victims were not given last year's vaccine. It costs around $50 a pop, or free from your employer, if you are elderly or otherwise susceptible. But at least it will save you a few painful days in bed, or it may save your life. It is not a scheme to get you to go to the doctor. |

Similiar to resident evil but better. English acting I think, but still good. It's not really that scary at all, just an interesting story and bit of action. |

| 360860 | 2005-06-22 20:54:00 | It's a bit of a worry - this current Hong-Kong strain is knocking out thousands of NZers already - with 3 kids dead. Just think of the damage the Bird Flu could do.... | somebody (208) | ||
| 360861 | 2005-06-23 02:04:00 | People just don't realise that simple hygiene standards can eliminate 99% of all instances of virus-bourne diseases. Ah, all those people in 1918 were DIRTY! Actually there hasn't been a decent plague since the balck plague. A few people die and the Media makes a fuss. What was it 100th of a percent? 1000th? When its 30 or more percent, then panic. Ultimately humans will become extinct though. Perhaps the rest of the animals might get lucky and it will happen before they're all gone. |
