| 656631 | 2008-04-07 00:56:00 | Its not a joke, but not really needed as well, as it says RAM - Random Access Memory, meaning it holds information/instructions only while needed. Its not like a Hard Drive, where data is written all over the place and stays put, until something deletes, or a cleaner program is run to clean up the rubbish - leaving "holes". If you have memory leaks from programs not playing nice you will get excessive usage, but normally if you turn off the PC and turn it back on again, it dumps all information in the RAM any way. Turning off processes that run in the background and running apps that are not memory hogs will gain you better results. Eg - Spyware will use resources, and some antivirus programs will have a huge affect as well. |
