| 656617 | 2008-04-06 20:49:00 | Hi all, I don't know the correct technical name for it, but my computer often goes really slow and things just hang, leaving a blank spot where they used to be or multiple ghost images on the screen for a few seconds or a min - its really annoying and it DOESN'T happen all the time either - just enough to annoy, what causes this and can I fix it? my machine is 2 years old Hp pavilion intel (R) with a Pentium (R) D CPU 2.80ghz 1.gb RAM and 180GB hard drive of which there is 79GB of free space left thanks in advance |

| 656618 | 2008-04-06 21:08:00 | Welcome to Press F1 unity1, A pc can hang for many reasons, usually though its related to having to much running in the back ground all at the same time, the PC cant keep up and you get hangs or ghost images as you rightly put it. What Antivirus program do you have ? Some Programs like Antivirus software cause a slowness ( Norton's will cause a performance hit on some PC's), General junk thats built up over time will do it as well, viruses and spyware are a common cause as well. Other issues can be damaged drivers / software. Download from my Sig, Ccleaner - install and run it to clear out temp files and lots of other rubbish, install Spybot S&D, as well as Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org) -update and do a full scan with both. Download Hijackthis (www.trendsecure.com), save it to a folder, run it and select scan and save a Log, when its finished, copy / paste the whole log back here and someone will look at it and advice if anything else needs to be done, altered etc. |

| 656619 | 2008-04-06 21:51:00 | Lots of reasons. Not enough resources to cope with whats going on. Malware running in the background. Problems with drivers, apps etc. General Windows bloat. |

| 656622 | 2008-04-07 03:06:00 | How much RAM do you have unity? Check this by going into the system properties - Right click on My Computer and select properties from the drop down menu. Then right click on the task bar, and open up the task manager. If your using a lot of RAM, or more RAM than you have, thats gonna be a lot of the problem. |
