2008-04-05 13:07:00 | Got myself an 8800GT Alpha Dog, which is supposed to run at 670/1950. But for some weird reason GPU-z picks it up as a normal 8800GT's 600/1800. Can anyone enlighten me?

2008-04-05 21:08:00 | Use Rivatuner, that will show the actual clock speed, GPU-z shows my OCed 8800GTS to be 640/2100 when the actual clocks are 648/2106. Extract the BIOS from it using NiBiTor (www.softpedia.com) and see what that says

2008-04-05 23:35:00 | Rivatuner also shows 600/1800 instead of the usual 670/1950 for an Alpha Dog. Will try to extract the BIOS now. Cheers David. | qazwsxokmijn (102) | |
2008-04-06 00:07:00 | Damn. The BIOS is showing 600/1800. Did XFX really forget to flash this one card??? | qazwsxokmijn (102) | |
2008-04-06 00:13:00 | Email them and ask? Their support is usually quite good and should be able to answer your question :) | LiquidSolidity (1589) | |
2008-04-06 00:39:00 | Heh, bugger. Email XFX and see what they say. Is not really hard to flash it yourself, if you know what you are doing, I almost bricked my 8800GTS when I got it :p I changed the Voltages and timings too much in the BIOS, PC wouldn't boot with the card in... I was able to fix it though.

2008-04-06 00:41:00 | Nah, no need to flash it. I will just leave it downclocked most of the time anyway, then only overclock it when I'm gaming. | qazwsxokmijn (102) | |
2008-04-06 00:48:00 | You can use Rivatuner to overclock the card when it enters 3D mode (a game) and then drop down again when it goes out. | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | |
2008-04-06 01:44:00 | Yeah that's what I've done. :) | qazwsxokmijn (102) | |
2008-04-06 06:14:00 | Aaahh, I've noticed something else too. I've read on reviews that Alpha Dog 8800GTs have bigger fans and bigger ventilation slits. Well, my 8800GT has a standard sized fan and the slits look standard too. Damn XFX, they just slapped an Alpha Dog sticker on a stock 8800GT and put it in an Alpha Dog box!!
