2005-06-02 03:03:00 | My old Uniden cordless is reaching the end of its life and wish to replace it with a new Dect model . All that I've seen look extremely fragile and vulnerable in their upright(almost) cradle which themselves look as tho they would tip over with the slightest knock. Anyone any comments please?

On buying it the slaes person emphasised that we should get the warrenty set up, and sure enough just after the year warrenty expired so did the phone. Despite gettinga new battery it won't charge... Back to the old corded phone for a while.... Moral of the story, keep clear of the cheapies... |

2005-06-02 03:39:00 | Had two of the Panasonic Cordless models. Both failed within 1-2 years. Decided to get a Uniden DECT. Still working after 1 year. Customised ringtones (like cellphones) in association with CallerID is great. Know who is calling without seeing the display.

2005-06-02 10:51:00 | I've consistently owned Panasonics for 15 years. The only problem is that eventually the touchpads stop registering keystrokes - see pressf1.pcworld.co.nz Had a Uniden but the sound was not clear. Godfather swears by Doro which are cheap but if they work.............. :D This topic has other threads - do a search. Good luck.

2005-06-02 22:01:00 | We have a Uniden DSS 2415, and it is superb. There is probably a newer model with the same features but at a lower price. It has: speakerphone, extra loud volume control, alpha-numeric caller ID, and good clarity. A friend bought a cheaper cordless using Fly Buy points and is really hacked off at how sh**ty it is - whenever he comes over and sees our phone, he grumbles that he should have bought it. Cordless phones are items that all of us use a lot, so therefore I recommend paying a bit more and getting quality.

2005-06-02 22:02:00 | We replaced our old Uniden with a Siemens Gigaset C1 - recommended as best by Consumer mag. A bit more expensive, but works really well, with a good real English manual. The only issue I have is that I can't work the flash to pick up a call waiting - but I think that is a PEBKAC problem. | Tony (4941) | |
2005-06-02 22:08:00 | I have several Panasonic DECT sets at home and have no problems at all. These are well over 1 year old. However the best DECT sets that are around are the Siemans C100 Gigasets. Not sure of the price but after experience where I work with other sets this is the only one we recommend to end users..
