657261 2008-04-09 04:51:00 I am currently running XP Pro on my desk top PC & Vista Home Premium on a laptop ( came with it ).
I have developed my Xp over several years and made it look like Vista.

Both systems are stable & both have no problems (this surprised me with the Vista).
Can anyone tell me why I should spend hundreds of Dollars to purchase Vista for my Desk Top? Laptop did not come with original software.

657262 2008-04-09 04:58:00 There is no reason to change to Vista on the desktop unless you want to.

If you are quite happy running XP then keep it.

This what makes me laugh - LOTS of people are moaning about Vista, but who said you HAVE to change to Vista if you run XP, or any other OS for that matter.?

No one.

If you purchase a new PC you may have to buy Vista unless its a non name brand that a real computer shop builds for you, or you purchase the parts and include XP. It not like every XP PC in the world is suddenly going to stop working and every one HAS to purchase a new PC with Vista.

Microsoft would like to hope so - but it aint gonna happen no time soon.

Old saying - if it aint broke dont fix it.

657263 2008-04-09 05:30:00 Vista is not good for old systems, but works great on any new system, so get it with your next desktop. SPARTAN 860 (2618)
657264 2008-04-09 05:57:00 Vista seems to have improved with security - I have noticed in relation to user account controls and administrator rights prompts... kahawai chaser (3545)
