656856 2008-04-07 20:58:00 I have recently upgraded my Laptop from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate. I connect to Exchange 2003 for email and under XP was able to connect Outlook 2003 happliy using HTTP. (I usually work at client's premises and use their networks, so Outlook over HTTP is a great solution).

However, I cannot get my Vista machine to connect to the mail server using HTTP.

I have not changed the certificate on the server. It is a Windows generated cert. So I exported the Certificate from the server and installed it in the trusted root certification authorities section under the "My User Account" on the machine. I still get a message saying that the certificate is not from a trusted authority.

Do I need to install the certificfate somewhere else, or under the Computer account? Do I need to get a "commercial" certificate from someone like Verisign or Thawte?

Would appreciate it if anyone has some advice.

656859 2008-04-08 10:47:00 How did you install the certificate?
Normally you have to open IE and browse to your sbs2003 remote web work place page.
You should then get the error about the certificate not being from a trusted source.
If you continue on to the page you should then be able to install the certificate, just leave all options as the default on any prompts.

could you elaborate as they work together fine for me

656861 2008-04-14 03:39:00 Okay. My Outlook Web Access works fine with IE 7. I firstly installed the Certificate by using the method through IE and I placed it into the Trusted Root Certification Authorities location.

Since Outlook would not work using that method, I then installed it using the certificate management tool, into the Trusted Root Certification of the local computer.

The same certificate is installed on my HTC Touch for synchronisation with the Exchange server, so it is obviously the correct one (and I've checked it).

The only thing I can think of is that it is installed in the wrong Trusted Root Certification Authority Store, or Vista does not trust a certificate generated by a Windows SBS 2003 server, (even though the documentation says it should).

656862 2008-04-14 07:18:00 Is there not some updates that you need to put on the SBS box, or the Vista machine - can't remember which, to get Vista working correctly with SBS2003?

I have used SBS2003 a lot but never with Vista.

656864 2008-04-14 08:22:00 Its not a firewall issue is it? SolMiester (139)
656865 2008-04-14 22:55:00 Just to make sure, I turned my Windows Firewall off. Still the same result. It can't be the ISA 2004 Firewall on the SBS2003 server, as it is working fine with other (XP) machines.

I will try the updates route, although I am pretty sure both machines are up to date.
