656763 2008-04-07 06:31:00 Hi,does anyone know of a webcam that works with win98.My parents have an old 98 PC and want to talk to the grandkids overseas, but all the cameras I have seen only seem to work with Win2000 or later.Any ideas?I dont want to suggest they buy a new PC as the old one does them fine, and it was hard enough getting them used to that one without changing over to XP or Vista. Thanks

Peter

656764 2008-04-07 06:44:00 Win 98 or Win 98SE?

You may have more troubles unless its SE, as original 98 support for USB was "hit and miss".

There must be hundreds lying in cupboards around the country, that were unuseable when XP came out.

656765 2008-04-07 06:52:00 I got one of These here (www.logitech.com) you can have the damn thing, its been sitting in the " must keep box" for years - No idea if it works or not, but I'm downloading the software to see - wont work in Vista, and the pic was never as good as todays ones. Look back here later and i'll post if it goes or not. wainuitech (129)
656766 2008-04-07 07:20:00 Okay - add to above - Peter, it works OK on a Win XP PC, so it should wont work on 98, the drivers are available. Not the clearest, compared to todays ones but it works.

Quality of Picture - one of the females in the house - Damn typical - bring out a Camera and the first thing she does is Start Posing (www.imagef1.net.nz) - every time without fail  Prob get a bit clearer with a fiddle on the focus.

It needs a separate Mic, but they are dirt cheap, the in builts are hopeless

The Cams free if you want it, read your PM, or PM me if you don't have PM's available.
