It gives the choice of whole screen or window under curser, and some other thing. then a delay factor while it disapears, and then reappears with the option to save the screenshot, quit, etc. I don't know whats available for the Gnome enviroment though......

I just tried printscreen, and pasting into GIMP.... i didn't think that worked, but it does. Of course theres no control of the original image that way, but better options to manually edit it down to the relevent window or part of.......

This ones not my favourite but is one I was looking at yesterday, Cropper (blogs.geekdojo.net). It works off the .NET framework (I downloaded and installed it a couple of months ago for another app to work so thought I'd download a few apps that work off it and put it to use). It's OK, here's a screenshot of it (sal.neoburn.net) (yeah, ascreenshot of a screenshot program).

I still prefer the Print Screen button though.
