361447 2005-06-07 09:22:00 Probably a large number of them sign up to PM the people in the Gmail thread to ask for Gmail invites.

And possibly more people sign up after having been banned.
I have the suspicion that some people here have more than one indentity.

The Gmail thing you mention may give people more than one or two valid Email addresses which will allow more people to sign up after being banned.

361449 2005-06-07 09:31:00 Hi there,
As a new member, this thread has made me feel a little guilty that I haven't been posting lately. Fact is I am a newbie to Linux and have been busy coming to grips with it. I have been reading the daily posts and have been gaining knowledge from them.
Have now got Mandrake going with Firefox 1.0.4 and Thunderbird 1.0.2 so that all my access to the net is via linux.
This has been a struggle for a 65 year old retired maths teacher but, heh I am learning fast.

Greetings to all and thanks for the combined wisdom.
User name is actually the first letters of each of our four grandkids in order of birth.

Cheers,
Jim

361450 2005-06-07 09:45:00 Howdy Jim, good to see you come out of the cold! :)

Good on you for trying Linux as well. Hope reading all the Linux threads hasn't put you off too much as you only tend to see "When good things go bad" style threads :p

Hope to see you around more.

361451 2005-06-07 09:51:00 :) Thanks Jen
You seem to always have something sensible to say in the various threads that I have checked.
Likewise Chilling. I am pleased to acknowledge plenty of help and encouragement from the guy who writes the Tux Love column in our favourite magazine.
I will try to become more active in the forums from now on.

Cheers,
Jim

361452 2005-06-07 09:54:00 Guess I'm one of those members you're talking about too.Joined up last month when I had a problem that needed solving. However, thanked Speedy and Tom McB via private message.
Am still a bit of a novice when it comes to computers so find it really helpful to read your posts and learn a bit more about what makes these things tick. Hopefully in the not too distant future I'll be able to return the favour.
Thanks for a great site.

361453 2005-06-07 10:12:00 Well said, olwyn, and I am sure representative of many, :D mark c (247)
361454 2005-06-16 15:11:00 I think also there's certain people who post asking a question, get the response, and need not post again...

Sucks because its always nice to hear a word or two of thanks - They're too few and far between :(
Maybe they said "Thanks in advance" or something similiar in their first post? ;) But always good to show your appreciation or how you got on with your problem though.
