657441 2008-04-11 07:41:00 The first thing you should do when you get it is uninstall Norton Antivirus - I think every PC at every chain store comes with Norton preinstalled. Greven (91)

Yeah spend the first 30 mins un-installing everything extra that you dont need and that bloats it, definitely helps on those Vista systems Ive found ;)

657443 2008-04-13 11:55:00 Well NZMaka - I've been in a similar situation when I tried bathing my Toshiba R200 in red wine. I'd only bought it from Trademe, a 2 year old model, a couple of weeks earlier.
I was instructed to go to Heathcote Appliances in Hamilton for the replacement. The model that was offered wasn't available for a couple of weeks so they offered me a similar specced Asus. I checked with my bro-in-law who is a senior manager with HP, in Houston and he said to wait for the Toshiba as they have a much better reputation.
I told the shop I'd wait and when they called me 3 weeks later to say it was in and when I got there they'd given me the next model up, a M600 with a T8300 but only 1 GB. I immediately got a 2 Gb stick from the best price at Pricespy. Very happy with my new lappy.

657444 2008-04-14 03:36:00 Thanks for all the replies guys, picked up the new Toshiba this morning and can't wait to get home tonite to try out the new machine. Noel Leemings would'nt give me any extras or RAM upgrades as it was an insurance claim, so I'll just grab a 2GB RAM module of Trade Me in a few days time.

Thanks to everyone who gave me there opinions, I really appreciate it.

Cheers

657445 2008-04-14 09:24:00 Check Pricespy as well as TM as I found cheaper RAM on Pricespy. Fishb8 (484)

Asus laptops are also very good quality, but a lot of them have the function key at the bottom left instead of the control key, which I find very annoying.
