362185 2005-06-08 10:24:00 Plod, I would be in for the David Bowie like a robbers dog. Jacques Loussier is what I am seriously looking for. PJ
Well since i have never heard of him, just steal it.

362186 2005-06-08 11:25:00 All my 1920s/30s music is free and there is gigabytes of it for the taking from many sites, but I suppose that's not what you mean  Terry Porritt (14)
362187 2005-06-08 14:21:00 The last site that I used with no fuss (except the obligatory free signup) is 15megsoffame.com (http://www.15megsoffame.com/). It's more for the younger crowd like me though and is entirely of the 'unsigned artist' variety.

Also there exists online journals whos primary purpose is to post single mp3's every few days for people to download and check out, these vary alot and you would have to search out one that suits your tastes. This is a good road to explore if you find a good one because you get to hear stuff you might normally not. A recently exhaustive listing of these can be found at tofu hut (tofuhut.blogspot.com), just check out a selection of sites from a section of music that interests you. This can be confusing if your not very internet saavy, so you may need to go the generic route (these sites can themselves be hard to navigate and download from). Heres a quick list of those of the generic type.

http://www.purevolume.com/
www.amazon.com/ (http:)
http://music.download.com/
www.mp3.com

Also a few links that seem to be doing the rounds atm culled straight from del.icio.us (del.icio.us)

One Million Free & Legal Music Tracks! (www.enorgis.com) - BIG list of free music sites
TURTLE'S "78 RPM" JUKEBOX (www.turtleserviceslimited.org) - public domain music from 1910 - 1930
The Beethoven Experience (www.bbc.co.uk) - BBC offering Beethoven for free download

Edit: Actually, once you get 'in the loop' of free music sites, you usually see the same sites being suggested, these links should be a good start anyway.

Terry.......Try Me. Throw a few sites at me do, Please. My taste in Big Band & Jazz goes way back to my early teens. Dankworth & Heath et al. Any GOOD tuneful music for that matter. Cannot stand that incomprehensible monotone jabber jabber that came in from America, along with hats on backwards. Perhaps hats on backwards is an indication of intelligence. Backward !!!.
Thanks. PJ

I will post a separate thread listing free download, listening, and streaming audio sites, later on today. It will be big

362190 2005-06-09 09:16:00 Not sure if I am allowed to post this great music link, but anyway... check this (http://www.mp3dimension.com) out. This site has got all the latest mp3 (free to download as well, not sure whether it is legal or not) as well a few broken links. Most broken links' pathway are from .edu website....

Cheers :)

362191 2005-06-09 10:06:00 Talking about free music makes me wonder about something...

Say for example, take Mozarts - The Marriage of Figaro

Now because Mozarts looooong gone and since his copyright has presumably also expired its all oki doki... but say the London Symphony Orchestra records a CD full of classical music with the above song in it..

Is it OK to copy that CD seeing as Mozarts long dead or is it 'NO WAY' because of the London S.O and their profits/time/work and such? :@@:
