657113 2008-04-08 10:37:00 Guys,

Now I know that there's a lot of different LCD monitors out on the market today... but does anyone know of a good cheap LCD screen. I'll use it mostly for gaming so I'm looking at like a 19" widescreen or something similar. You may have already seen my other thread (www.pressf1.co.nz) so there you can check out my rig I'm going to build.

Any comments would be appreciated as I'm not really experienced at this kind of thing.

657116 2008-04-09 01:14:00 I'd go bigger than 19" if I were you. Not that much in it $$ wise until you jump to 24". So I'd either go for a 20" or 22". Having said that, what's your budget?

If you're going SLi, then I'd invest in some proper screen real-estate, otherwise it's mostly going to waste.

Explain why.

probably because a single 512M 8800GT / GTS can run anything you're likely to throw at it at the native resolution of a 19" screen with most eye candy turned on, SLI only really becomes necessary at higher resolutions.

But then I'm biased, I prefer the simplicity & compatabilty of a single graphics card, I have an 320M 8800GTS and an AOC 22" monitor and I'm very happy with it's game playing performance.

Ah. Necessary.
I have a 19" CRT and 2 x 8800GTS 512mbs.
Can't say whether or not it was necessary came into the decision.......:D

657122 2008-04-09 05:03:00 I'm getting 2 8800GT's but I'd be more concerned with the fps and antialiasing as compared to the res.
I've heard that this (www.nzoczone.com) is a good screen. 22" Widescreen with 2ms response time. 2000:1 contrast etc and only $432.39 at oczone
