2008-04-11 12:36:00 | Hi there, I moved house in the weekend. At our old address in another suberb we were getting 6000+ kbps / 600 up at the new house 1560/140 I have spoken to the Helpdesk and have been told the equipment at the local exchange is state of the art {for broadband} We are using the same hardware. A linksys wag325n and same cables. Xtra have sent me a template to fill in with my speeds for the next 3 days. Not sure what they will do after this. Any ideas what might be wrong? Any help would be great Thank you

2008-04-11 12:37:00 | I have tried changing some settings in the router. I changed the DSL Modulation to G.dmt from multimode That has increased the upload to 400kbps, But the download is still lagging at around 1500kbps. Any ideas on what I could try to fix this? The D/l speed is driving me nuts

2008-04-11 16:36:00 | hm.........have you done the usual process of elimination ? Unplug EVERY telephone device in the house and this includes any double adaptors and broadband filters......then plug the modem directly into a wall socket and check the speed.......then try it in a different socket etc etc.....

2008-04-11 20:13:00 | Theres probably not a lot you can do about it. Especially if the exchange your on is over subscribed. There are many people in this country getting 1500 or less on download. ADSL is a shared resource, if there are lots of people hooked into your exchange using it the average speeds will be slower. Try doing some speed tests at weird hours when most other people would be offline. If you were getting 6000+ on you last exchange you must have nearly had it all to yourself lol

2008-04-11 22:13:00 | And you believe them? What exchnage are you off? Hobsonville. A contractor told me that the exchange was brand new and state of the art. The exchange is only a few streets away. So Im guessing its just overloaded? That is so disappointing after having a good speed before

2008-04-12 01:50:00 | ...we were getting 6000+ kbps / 600 up at the new house 1560/140... Is this your speed from a download test site or is it the speed reported by your modem? If you are only a few streets from your exchange, your modem speed should be a lot higher and will be unaffected by "overloading"

2008-04-12 02:43:00 | its the speed using the Auckland server on speedtest.net. The exchange is between 1-1.5km away certainly would not be any further than that | wills1 (13614) | |

2008-04-12 05:37:00 | And what does your modem say its line speed is ? it says 1824kbps down, 768kbps up. The upload speed there is a lot higher than what speedtest.net reports
