657933 2008-04-11 07:55:00 Hi guys

I have a small home network all using XP, working well.

I have just bought a laptop Vista with ethernet port.

I have connected it to my network sort of works OK.

Is there any way I synch my data files so that if I take the laptop away on a trip and update some files I can plug in the laptop when I get home and update my network's data files automatically, rather than having to backup and restore any files ?

There's a free version and a paid version, the main difference is that the paid version synchronises open files.

I previously used SyncToy which as beeswax says is excellent, but Syncback is even better.

SyncToy places log files in the top directories of the each sync profile, but Syncback doesn't do this. Which is a plus when you want to sync say, My Docs, to both your laptop and a backup drive using two profiles.

Give 'em both a try.

Syncback works a treat over a wired or wireless network or between internal and external drives.

it works flawlessly so far and keeps all 3 of them in sync

I like this too..I use it between 4 puters all the time, and it will sync a USB stick too.
