364523 2005-06-17 12:17:00 Ah don't dump on the staff dude. They've got job parameters just like the rest of us and in my exp. they have been excellent in their assistance. Make the best of it and if you want to make it better make sure you vote to support 'public health'.///////////////////////////mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mark c (247)
364524 2005-06-17 20:43:00 Many, many years ago when I rode bicycles I tried to copy my mate who jumped off a 1 metre high ledge on his bike onto a newlt tarsealed road. :groan:
So I got a good run up and.......
Unfortunately I landed on my face
Took all the skin off the left side of my face.
So got back on my bike, rode to closest doctors surgery and promptly got turned away cause I wasn't a regular patient with them, even though half my face was hanging off!!
So after my mate gave them his opinion of their priorities, we rode another kilometre to his own doctor, who kindly sewed me together again.
All the time I was fine until after doc had finished and I saw myself in the miror....upon which I promptly keeled over. lol
Mum freaked when I got home.

364525 2005-06-18 00:41:00 I used to play wing position in rugby at school. One match we had no reserve prop so they stuck me in. Never having played in the scrum before i didn't know how to position my back - first scrum, crunch, one dislocated vertebrae. Spent a year in and out of hospital, and still suffer with it today.

Working in my parents shop one day, an angry customer (female) got upset with me catching her trying to swipe money from the till, pulls out a knife and stabs me in the arm.

364526 2006-02-07 01:34:00 Ok ok ok I know this is an old thread but in the words of one awful pop singer 'Oops I did it again!' and in the words of Homer Simpson 'D'OH!'.

Before you read this I just want to stress that I'm not a masochist. This one didn't hurt so much but over the weekend I dropped a big carving knife onto my foot. It didn't hurt at all until the doc was putting in the stitches! 20 seconds wasn't enough for the local to kick in and I felt the stitches go in as he asked "Can you feel this?" "HOLY CRAP YEAH!" was my response. I'll see if I can grab a photo when they change the dressing this afternoon.....I was very lucky not to cut any ligaments etc. so it's not that bad.

Anyway, surely you've had a personal injury since this thread was last open so come on, share your story and we can all have a laugh, err, commiserate with you. You know the saying - misery loves company! {not that I'm miserable} Any flips on your quad bike Metla or more grappling with knives bob_doe?

Cheers, Andrew

364527 2006-02-07 02:01:00 Meh, Might as well share my story :p

I was riding my mountain bike, this is about two years ago but it is the most pain I have ever been in so.....anyway, I was riding down the street at 55Km/h, yes I have a speedo  back to the story, I was running out of room to slow down so I applied the breaks only to find the cables had come off and I had no way of slowing down so I paniced, put my feet on the ground to try slow me down, my right leg ended up scrapping over the back tire, I had shorts on as well, I kept flying down the hill and came across the end of the road and the only way was hit the curb and land in a very sharp and prickly bush, I done a complete flip before landing.

Now the damage, my right leg on the underside of my thigh got a couple of layers of skin ripped off, and it was raw, VERY painful to sit or move, from the flip and landing in the bush I got multiple deep gashes out of my back and side, also VERY painful to move and do anything.

I was just sitting there after like ouch that kinda hurt  it wasn't until a little later that it started stinging like CRAP! and ever now my thigh is still a little tender.

That is the end of my 'Holy crap that hurt!' story :)

364528 2006-02-07 03:04:00 I havent had an accident requireing medical attention since I was around 8, but about 4 years ago, me & a couple of my friends were attacked by a couple of guys from the first 15 from our school. I ended up with a broken cheekbone just below my right eye.

I ended up with a bit of metal holding the bone together while it healed (it was left in there because it would have required another operation to get it out). I was told it would hurt on cold days, but it usually only hurts on the really hot days.

No, I've been pretty good lately, havent viciously cut myself with a knife. Only minor semi-invisible cuts whilst zipping through spuds.

364530 2006-02-07 05:50:00 When I was 2, I jumped off a 2nd story balcony onto concrete. My sister told me I could fly and I believed her. Quite a shock for my mother, actually, who was sweeping the concete onto which I fell. roddy_boy (4115)
