364513 2005-06-17 09:17:00 Well finally played it using RealAlternative. However what a kerfuffle !
I kept getting put on the path to installing RealAlternative even though it had been already installed. Then I was getting messages to close Mozilla so I closed Mozilla Firefox - all five tabs. Still did not work.

Kept getting that cycle - so when it asked me to close Mozilla, I did not and lied, ---- and everything worked well then.
Misty :@@:

A bit strange, but is it all ok now?

Incidently Real Alternative is on Junes PC World CD.

364514 2005-06-17 09:34:00 Well I hope you have an enjoyable convalescence andrew93 . That's the way to approach it .

Out cutting firewood at a friend's place, Dad (then 87) on the chain saw and me with a stick pushing the cut bits off the sawhorse when whoops, he hits a knot or I know not what and the roaring chainsaw comes down on my hand . Ripped out one tendon and a lot of tissue and bone and had three days in Whangarei Hospital .

It was choice!

You lie around doing nothing and people bring you food and then lie a round some more and then they bring you more food .

Can't see why people complain about being in Hospital . . Cheers and get well soon . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . m :D

364515 2005-06-17 09:45:00 Lets see...
As a kid...
- I fell a metre off a tree and landed on my back.

- I have been hit on my bike by a car reversing back out of a drive which neither me nor the driver saw each other.

- I almost electrocuted myself by jamming a piece of wire into the power switch of a commercial deep fryer.

- I spilled boiling hot water over my left arm. I still ahve the scar to prove it.

Over the years...

- I have cut myself numerous times while cutting raw and cooked chicken many times.

- I have constantly been burned by spitting oil from cooking battered fish in a deep fryer.

- I tore my ligament in my knee last year.

364516 2005-06-17 10:08:00 my wost moment was as a kid (14 years old?)
I was getting in to the art of model aircraft.
I had spent many weeks building a 3 foot model.
time came to test the new moter for the beast, now this was a gas driven moter not an electric one. so we bolted it to a scrap of wood and clamped the wood in the the vice in the workshop. the 6 inch prop was facing me, we started the moter...... so far so good......

then my dad was telling me about adjusting the mixture of the thing using the small knob at the back of the moter....... so i reached over to the back and because the prop was spinning so fast i dident see where the edge of it was.........

I got about 75 small cuts from the tip of my fingers to my wrist. the blood got on to the prop and was sprayed in a line right up the wall and across the roof.

dident feel a thing at the time, 60 second later and it hurt like a sod.

364518 2005-06-17 11:32:00 Last night on TV. The icky thing on nasty types of parasites invading various parts of people.
The poor guy who thought the fish in the Amazon river was a myth. Its not. Several days of agony after watching it disappear up his.. and then the surgeon had a major trying to remove it, ended up cutting the fish away from its spines. What they didn't say was what happens to the remaining spines? Ouch.

So falling into a hole is a picnic in comparison.

364521 2005-06-17 11:55:00 Whoooooah. Terrific news. Been party to three house removals. 2 from friends and one from neighbours and never heard about any mishaps. Very interesting, Poor asterisks. Done lots of of jobs, and associated errors, but never dropped a house............m mark c (247)
364522 2005-06-17 12:04:00 Well this story isn't about an accident; it is about other people's reactions...

My teenage son broke his arm falling off a truck and had to be taken to casualty. I was the only one available - the car was off with my wife - and my only transport was my motorbike. So we rock off to casualty, sashay up to the counter as you do, doffing crash helmets. I tell the casualty nurse my son has a broken arm, and either:
1. she immediately leapt to the conclusion that I did it to him by recklessly taking a "child" on a motor bike; or
2. she concluded I was an abusive father for bringing in a child with a broken arm on said machine.

The look I got from her caused ice to form on the walls of casualty. I have seen rattle snakes looking more welcoming.

A year or so later, I had to take my daughter to hospital, also with a broken arm (not caused by me), also via motor bike (for the same reasons). Same vicious reaction from different casualty staff.

What is wrong with these people? I now know what a pork chop feels like in a synagogue... Geez, I helped both the kids out of their crash helmets - what else did these poncy nurses expect of me?
