363890 2005-06-14 22:32:00 Have bought over 40 items and sold 3 with only one glitch. The trader was selling pirated dvds and would not refund my money when I complained to him. I put a blunt feedback on him and this, and other similar feedbacks, had him off the site within the next two weeks.
If you look at the feedback on traders, you can avoid most problem traders, unless you need to take a punt on a new trader.
Like any auction, you need to know the actual price and used price and stick to your limit when bidding. Many times I have lost an auction in the last minutes when bidding against another person who went higher than my maximum bid. You just don't want to get sucked into the mentality that you simply must win an auction at all costs. Chances are that another opportunity will arise to buy.

363892 2005-06-14 23:08:00 Good deals, of course.
Ripped off - to me not yet.

I have thou sold some junk at really ridiculous prices thou.

Just need to be aware of market prices and market prices on trademe or ebay, and not to get excited in winning that auction. Its not the only one.

363893 2005-06-15 00:22:00 I've never used Trademe tho I've cruised around it often enough 'just looking'. I live in the wop wops (hokianga) and have always assumed that packaging and posting would outwiegh any benefits in price. Er. like I don't buy and sell a lot of cars and high-price items like that.

Besides I'm in Save Mode after spending 10 k on getting the mains power and a fridge and washing machine etc. :D

(Maybe I should try selling my 12 v Blaupunkt car radio  )

363894 2005-06-15 03:49:00 ... there seem to be a lot of "clueless" buyers on the site, who don't really know how it all works - they dont bother to read the help either.

This isn't restricted to auction sites ... :D

363895 2005-06-15 04:13:00 I watched in astonishment this week as a set of 10 year old cycle panniers went for $71.
I dropped out at $32 - they are over $90 new, but $71 plus postage - no way.

I got ripped off. Only a small value item. Trader had lots of Trades and good feedback. She would not refund and had placed good feedback for me. I then put negative feedback with the comment that I did not receive my item and she would not refund. She then chnaged my feedback to negative and added various rants. SO that doesn't always work as it should.

363898 2005-06-15 07:41:00 Use them a little although I made the mistake of showing the wife and all of a sudden I am watching about 10 items (all clothes) .

Had one problem with mobile I bought as I felt that seller did not disclose all the probs with the phone . Asked for refund but she declined . Brooded for a little while then Vodafone had a trade in deal and bingo, traded it for phone worth $350 .

Overall I am happy with TM but like others have said, know what your limit is and dont get caught up in the emotion of the chase, there will be others .
