658053 2008-04-12 06:25:00 Xtra have sent me a template to fill in with my speeds for the next 3 days. Not sure what they will do after this.

They piss around getting you to see if your speeds change depending on time of day etc (which never happens)

then after that they might start looking into something further.

it could be your lines, how old is the new house? and have you tried disconnecting *everything* from the line and plugging in only the router, with no filter?

the house is a rental, would be built mid 80s. Have tried unplugging everything. Router is plugged straight into the jack. Ive tried different leads to but no success

658058 2008-04-14 06:28:00 it says 1824kbps down, 768kbps up. The upload speed there is a lot higher than what speedtest.net reports

If your modem says 1824kbps down then you are never going to get more than that. If your plan is full speed then your modem should show full speed and 1824 is not. My modem shows 7616 but my exchamge is only capable of 2048 approx.

I would say your ISP hasn't set you at Full speed at the new address.

That is unless modem connetion speed shows different at other exchanges?

Unless this slow speed is caused by your internal house wiring.
Find a near neighbour who also has broadband and if they are getting similar modem speeds - you're out of luck.
If their speeds are a lot higher, then look at your house wiring.

658060 2008-04-14 11:40:00 so did you carry out what i suggested or not ?.......

feedback will be useful because if you have done those things and theres no difference then we've learnt something

a LOT of pc repair and troubleshooting relys on process of elimination if you dont bother to respond then that process wont operate

658062 2008-10-09 01:30:00 6 months on now. And my router stats are 645kbps down and 160up.

I have tried using dmt tools, and lowering the snr margin which brings the download up to 1018kbps down.

I am thinking there must be something wrong with the router. I have tried all sorts of firmware with no luck.

We also had a dsl jack fitted by chorus with no improvement.

Im looking at the telecom supplied thompson tg585 wireless router. Has anyone used one of these? are they any good & can you use dmt tools with them?

Any advice would be great, thank you
