657640 2008-04-10 07:39:00 Yea, but just that fact that you got OSX on a windows machine is enough to please me beyond compare.
I mean, it's like a better looking version of Vista, problems and all...

657641 2008-04-10 07:41:00 better looking? well no, I never got to that bit. It didnt boot properly :) Apple lost the OS war in the last decade because it didnt work on non apple computers. SPARTAN 860 (2618)
657642 2008-04-10 07:45:00 Then why are you complaining General Kanos?

I totally agree with spartan 860, Vista is here and XP will not be in a blink of an eye .

Besides you have 2 very good graphics cards that are made for DX 10 why waste them by going back to XP?

Vista is already better and so many people hate it because their rage is fuelled by misconceptions and expectations by other people .

The games now are made for Vista, so it begs the question why go back to XP?

Because there is less overhead - Vista takes waaay more system resources to run than XP, which means more resources to play games with if you use XP .

My PC dual-boots XP and Vista because of this .

657644 2008-04-10 08:00:00 Yeah.
I'm thinking now I might get a 500Gb HDD and put both on there...
So I can play my games in XP and when my mates comes over I can boot Vista and He'll never know the difference....
Mwahahaha....

657645 2008-04-10 08:12:00 I'd wait and use XP then see what windows 7 brings, might be better than Vista can ever be (maybe)

657646 2008-04-10 08:13:00 Way more resources? hmmmm, no, there is no noticable difference between Xp and Vista in terms of FPS, or CPU time for me. And you shouldn't have any problems with your rig ethier. To all those who run vista on a mere 512 mb of ram and a (Shock) intel integrated gpu plus a crappy single core cpu, would you run XP on a 100 MHZ processor and 64 mb of ram? No? Then dont complain. Vista is the next gen OS, and therefore requires next gen hardware. SPARTAN 860 (2618)

Yes it does but as Spartan said Vista is not for crappy machines, I suspect having a dual SLI cards like the 8800 GT then he isn't going to have a crappy machine .

His machine will be able to handle Vista easily and still have resources left for africa .

Vista is here, if you have the machine that can handle it like a dream then get it .

Dual boot will only cause headaches as you have to manage 2 systems at once, why bother? There is nothing wrong with Vista its only the users who are to scared to handle it .

657648 2008-04-10 08:16:00 To get back to the point (kind of), I know you can post images that the Crysis team have put out to show the "benefits" of DX10 but has anyone actually compared the quality.

How do we know that the images the Crysis team gave us aren't like at maxed out specs on some supercomputer compared to a 1Mp camera??

I want some game proven comparisons here.

Peace...

Exactly! There is no difference, with a big rig there will be no problems with resources .

You will have problems if you have a putty rig .
