364074 2005-06-15 10:41:00 Yeah I think the way NetGuide (hello Nigel. what are you doing?) judges the websites is crap too.

These products are more suitable for a Powerpoint presentatrion competition than a website. Has NetGuide lost the plot? If they have they've lost it for a long time, coz they've done this before. It's more like an exercise to see how many apps you can use to build a website than the efficiency of the site itself.

(This seems to me typical of so many training programs.) :badpc:

364075 2005-06-15 10:41:00 I totally agree....

Presentation is what it seems to be, and bl0@t matters not when you're on a Uni/school connection.

Personally I hate flash/shockware with a passion. Sure they have their place, but in every corner website?! Or websites being awarded for their use?

Anyways,

What _exactly_ are the guidelines for entry in to the challenge?

364076 2005-06-15 13:22:00 A long time ago I used to think that Netguide actually belonged to the PCword magazine company.Lol.I think its a completely different company which have no relationship with each other at all.

I dont really like websites that has too many flash.Just runs so slowly on my computer

364077 2005-06-15 21:01:00 You might be thinking of the little internet magazine that idg used to publish, that was about the same size and price as the netguide, - but with a hell of a lot less advertising, kind of a shame they killed it off Morgenmuffel (187)
364078 2005-06-15 21:57:00 IDG Communications doesn't publish NetGuide. The little internet mag Nigel mentions was called "imag". Mary (6534)

Treat that sentence as a maths equation, rather than a statement. It's a bit like saying "There used to be this lovely restaurant which was always nice and quiet because no one was there. A shame they closed it".

364080 2005-06-15 22:45:00 In my opinion most web sites seem to be done by people who are just showing how clever they are. Too much decoration and fancy rubbish.
Looks very pretty, but try and find something you are looking for and your problems start.

And web sites that are selling on line. About six pages of details and shopping carts. And all their questions. BAH! They drive me up the wall!

If I want to buy I just send a simple e-mail. That is if I can find their address. Half of them seem to think it's clever to hide their address too.

Also, while I having a grizzle, why don't designers check that their links all work?

And why do people with nothing to say have to have a web page anyway?
