| 659372 | 2008-04-16 03:47:00 | Hi am not really up with the running of computers. I have just done a complete system restore which all worked fine but cannot seem to save any contacts in my outlook express address book. Everytime I shutdown my computer and restart there are no contacts in the address book????? | tarn (13634) | ||
| 659373 | 2008-04-16 04:16:00 | Welcome to PressF1. Are you running XP? If not, these instructions won't really work... Make sure viewing of hidden files and folders is enabled. 1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop. 2. Double-click on the My Computer icon. 3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. 4. After the new window appears select the View tab. 5. Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders. 6. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders. 7. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files. Look in C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book There should be a .wab (Windows Address Book) file there. Delete it. Re-open OE. It will re-create the address book. Hopefully that will solve it. |

| 659374 | 2008-04-17 06:02:00 | Hi Again thanks for your help, I have tried all this, but still am having no luck. The applications data folder icon (as well as some other icons) does seem to have a faded look compared to some if this makes any difference. Excuse my ignorance when it comes to computers. :help: | tarn (13634) | ||
| 659375 | 2008-04-17 06:29:00 | The Application Data folder will have a faded look. That's normal. Just double click as usual to open it. | rumpty (2863) | ||
