658792 2008-04-14 21:34:00 I have been attempting to watch an interesting video but the stop/start way it runs (or sometimes does not run) can be annoying . :annoyed:

It does not appear to be the site, so I wonder what I can do to improve things .

Have a look, perhaps:

. dw-world . de/popups/popup_single_mediaplayer/0,,3264621_type_video_struct_11458,00 . html?mytitle" target="_blank">www . dw-world . de =New%2Bbatteries%2Bspeed%2Bup%2Belectric%2Bcars

The video will load, then play - load, then play, etc . Can be quite frustrating .

But even worse - it stops loading (or streaming?) altogether! Very interesting article but I do not see the full 5min 15secs!

Below the screen there are three lines:

Flash-Stream, Low Bandwidth - 128kbps

Windows Media, High Bandwidth - 380kbps

Windows Media, Low Bandwidth - 45kbps

I have tried to pause the video until it is loaded, but that does not appear to work, as it just stops and refuses to start again .

Any thoughts on what I could do to make it bearable? Thanks .

658793 2008-04-14 21:38:00 Well it may not be the site, but the amount of people on it or here. May affect it, congestion etc.

Its life.

Not much you can do about it, when it stops and starts

Any site will do that - ie : Youtube does it

658794 2008-04-14 22:00:00 Thanks, Speedy.

I had thought that I had left that sort of problem behind when I dumped dialup.

In those days I would download music early morning to avoid congestion.:sleep Does that mean I need to do something similar in this case?

Or do I just say naughty words and try again later?:groan:

658795 2008-04-14 22:06:00 I'm on Telstra Cable, at 9.05 am, clicked on the link and its playing perfectly, no stop start etc ??

Now if the NZ Government did what london has done, it would sure cut down on pollution, especially in the city areas.

What are you trying to play it with ? There is a choice of Flash, or Windows Media player, if you use WMP its terrible,in fact it wont even play. Try the Flash version. Second try and it did hang a bit, may be pot luck on loading, trying the 3rd time its fine.

658796 2008-04-14 22:26:00 Wainuitech: Perhaps it is my connection, or provider, perhaps. I am on Woosh and have tried it since reading your comments from 0910. It plays in that jerky fashion and then stops about half way. I know the first half off by heart!

Everything else seems to work okay, just problems with that. Perhaps it's telling me that I should get off my bum and do some work?;)
