| 658711 | 2008-05-05 05:58:00 | If this PC came with XP pre-installed, then the vendor may have set a non-blank password. Contact support. Or if you don't have important data, reinstall XP. | SPARTAN 860 (2618) | ||

| 658713 | 2008-05-06 05:30:00 | Got access to another PC? Go to support.microsoft.com and search for Q307545 Basically, what the procedure they describe does is locate earlier copies of the corrupt/missing registery files and use them to replace the damaged ones. Have you been using System Restore? |

| 658714 | 2008-05-06 05:45:00 | Quite often if the config files are damaged they cant be repaired, you may need to do a repair install . Here's How ----- You will need your 25 digit product key for this . Place XP CD in drive: Reboot or shutdown and start PC . 1 . When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD . 2 . Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen . 3 . Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console . 4 . In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement . 5 . Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP . NOTE: if it doesnt locate your old OS STOP! As any further actions may result in wiping your data . 6 . Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup . |
