Have a look, folks: here (www.ci.snowflake.az.us) And more, even alien abductions and Mormonism here (www.adherents.com)... For film buffs and science fiction fans, Snowflake was immortalized in the critically acclaimed 1993 film Fire in the Sky. Directed by Robert Lieberman, written by Tracy Torme, and starring D.B. Sweeney and Robert Patrick, Fire in the Sky is based on a true story about some Arizona lumberjacks who claimed that they saw one of their crew (played by Sweeney) abducted by a UFO. Much of the film takes place in Snowflake. At one point, one of the characters calls Snowflake a "stupid Mormon town" because the townfolks there don't believe their tales of alien abduction. ...and tomatoes, lots of them (www.wmonline.com) BTW, are you are an LDS man, SurferJoe? |

| 365547 | 2005-06-24 06:00:00 | Do you guys know that I am here all alone? And that I, at home with all this time on my hands, have a keyboard and access to the internet? Do you know what that means to me? I can post and post and post and make comments and raise a ruckus all by my little lonesome self . Why aren't there any moderators here at this time making watching me? There are over 100 non-members lurking, but I am the only member on here right now . Psssst! . . . Don't tell my doctors! . Gads! The freedom! :D gotta get outta here before Chilling_Silence wakes up . . . are u on crack??? lol |

Well, not being Mormon isn't a problem there . My wife and I were sitting in a local hamburger joint (kinda a pub that serves ground dead cow, flame broiled on a bun (biscuit?) with lettuce and condiments), and the local highschool kids came into the place . There was the usual noise, but no cussing, swearing, spitting on the floor, no belly-button rings, pierced or exposed body parts and no rap music . There was, however "yes, Sir", "No Ma'am", and "thank-you" . We were flabbergasted . So unlike Southern Califoirnia . There were no cigarettes, drug paraphenelia, black goth clothing, absurd hairstyles . We thought we had been abducted on a kinder, more social alien spaceship . My wife and I aren't Mormons, but have known a lot in our lives . We find them fine people with powerful family ties and appreciation and kindness and heartfelt consideration for everyone . Yes, the town is a major Mormon bastion, but it's really nice that way . When we bought gas there (petrol?), you go to the pump, put in the gas and tell the cashier how much you got and they make change on your statement . How unlike SoCal . Here, you have to pay first,(removing ski mask and removing bullets from handguns), then they key in the amount you can get in the pump, and then the pump shuts off at that amount . The local markets leave their hard to move or heavy display items out all night on the front entryway of the store . Nothing gets stolen . In SoCal, if you leave a redhot stove on the front of the store, and it isn't bolted down, it'll be gone before the firebox gets cold . Contrast . <gotta stay off my soapbox here> . . . . . . . just a thought . . . . . . . . |

No swearing, nose rings, smoking, etc. Yep, sounds good to me. :D Thanks for the run-down, and as far as I am concerned you can get back on the soapbox. |
