659399 2008-04-17 04:51:00 OK, thats your problem bud.

Vista can't run with only 512MB RAM. Vista needs a MINIMUM of 1GB to run acceptably, 2 or 3 is better.

Get a 2GB chip of RAM, put it in.

You need to do that, doing anything else is pointless until you get more RAM. It's cheap now, you should be able to pick up a 2GB chip for under $80.

Also allocating more RAM to graphics memory would be a good thing to do after you get more RAM. You will need to take it to a PC tech. Seems like you may be a bit out of your depth. Find a good tech, they won't charge too much to put more RAM in and give it a quick clean up.

What anti virus software are you running?

Where in NZ are you? Someone will be able to recommend a good tech.

Answer some of the previous questions too, have a good read through the thread.

659403 2008-04-18 05:12:00 I thinks its better to get 2x1Gb sticks to utilize the dual cores GeneralKanos (13592)
659404 2008-04-18 05:37:00 Utilize the dual cores? Uhm, explain what you mean by that.

You mean dual channel? He seems to have a very entry level PC. The more RAM the better. Dual channel isn't gonna make a noticeable difference.
