659334 2008-04-16 05:16:00 Probably go with the GTX then.

I just got a 8800GT 512 PCI-E which is fine for my work, but it is a huge update from my old AGP card/system

659335 2008-04-16 05:16:00 hmmm your probably right but double the price different?

If the GTX is the highest end part, then yes, you'll be paying double the price for probably an extra 10-20% speed increase. High end parts always have a price premium

659340 2008-04-16 13:39:00 DeSade - have a read here (www.dansdata.com) for some answers. (9600GT is recommended for price vs performance). Greg (193)
659341 2008-04-16 22:15:00 My main games atm do not support SLI and there can be issues so I want to stay away from that for now. DeSade (984)

If you can get an 8800GT for $300 get it, that would be awesome

Otherwise go for a 9600GT. It's a neat card. I was quite impressed at it's stock noise levels and cooling. Runs nice as well, and imo it's not worth paying extra for anything else except a 8800gt

I used to buy more topend expensive cards, but i find the price increase not worth it.

Ive decided to buy the cheaper cards, and upgrade every generation. That way I get to fulful the 'ooh shiny' urge when new stuff comes out

659343 2008-04-16 22:59:00 Get a 8800GTS G92 512MB. Use the same Chip like the 9800GTX only 5-10% slower, but much cheaper (at least in Germany). Crow1985 (6683)
