MS has info on how to recover the backed up registry so you can reinstall it . if your getting a blue screen you may have a hardware or software fault that could have cuases the origanal problem . what does the blue screen messsage say ? |

| 658717 | 2008-05-18 22:59:00 | At what point did it bring up the BSOD ? Depending on when this happens it can either be a hardware problem or still damaged software. What is meant to happen is you load in the XP CD, follow through the instructions - and when it locates the old install, removes the basic windows OS, leaving all the data alone,then reinstalls windows. I have a customers PC in the workshop right now that is VERY badly corrupted, it goes right through till booting after the repair install, and then crashes again - time to format/start again with a fresh install. |
